A look back to October 1961 with a Curtiss A-1 replica for the Smithsonian Being unloaded from a USMC/Lockheed GV-1 (C-130) 148891 at Naval Air Station Anacostia, D.C. In 1962 the Tri-Service aircraft designation system was introduced by the Department of Defense, it provided a unified system for all branches operating aircraft.
