#OTD in 1991, an F-14 from VF-103 became the only U.S. Navy Tomcat to be lost to hostile fire when it was shot down by an Iraqi missile. Pilot LT Devon Jones was recovered in the first combat search and rescue mission behind enemy lines since Vietnam, but RIO LT Larry Slade was held as a POW for 6 weeks.
